Our State of the Union

Today is our eleventh anniversary, for anyone interested. After dating for six years and eleven years of marriage, we have now spent over half of our lives together. We have now moved into the "good-bye twenties, hello mini-van" season of our lives. We are happy to inform you that we are still very much in love. The romance while very different from the dating years is still intact. It never ceases to amaze me that the bond between us has grown stronger over diaper changes, sippy cups, and mud pies. We'll go out tonight, by ourselves, and probably end up talking about the kids. Let me assure you that it won't be any less romantic than it was before, probably a little bit more romantic, because the life we share is our fulfillment. The State of our Union is strong and will remain so.

Please excuse my sappiness. Please keep adding your reviews to the post below. I value your advice.

Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your night alone. I forgot about the Flowbee - Kenny and Jan have one and he cuts the boys hair AND his own with it. I borrowed it once, it is the coolest thing and mess free. My boys were scared of it because of the noise but yours might not mind - Ethan already had hair cutting issues and Devin was so young that was why they were scared.

Now THIS is a cool post. Bravo to both of you. I applaude you, take my hat off to you, give you a standing vote of confidence, and anything else I can do to let you know how great I think your report is. Thanks for making marriage sound good.

CONGRATULATIONS HAROLD AND KAYLA!! That's sooo neat that y'all have now been married for 11 years! I'm soo happy for y'all. Yes, isn't it true that y'all's Love just keeps growing each year?! (Of course that doesn't just happen on it's own, for look at the divorce rate...it's a CHOICE =). I remember Dr. Allen Brown telling we newly married college kids that marriage ONLY GOT BETTER! It's sooo true!
I think y'all are a NICE couple! Happy Anniversary...hope you have 100 more! ;)

Love ya, Heather =)

Happy Anniversary!! Hope you had an enjoyable evening alone together.
On another note, we have a flowbee and you can have it to try or keep if you like it. It's nice to use, but we prefer the regular trimmers. Let me know if you want it.

Verne;

DO you hate me for calling you that? Your post reminded me of high school. I rememeber well the day in the dorm when you told me you had a crush on "screech"! So happy for you all. I even remember when you broke up, because you wanted to be a Missionary and he wasn't so sure. HMMM, looks like things worked out huh? Marriage is work, but boy the pay-off is great. I know what you mean by being more in love now than you were at first. I can't imagine how much I will love Matt in 5 more years. Congrats my friend, you both married well.

Congrats, Harold and Kayla!! When I read your post, I remembered vaguely meeting you at Pell City Camp - you had only been married a few weeks if I remember correctly, and you had your pics and were showing them around to some friends (We won't say how young I was then, just that I wasn't quite in the 'friends' category yet ;o) I was in the throes of my crush on Nathan, and you were friends of his... Wow! Does time fly!?! Hope you had a great night out!

It's always nice to hear about another couple who has done marriage God's way. His ways are always best, aren't they? Why the world doesn't see that...it's beyond me. He tells us what to do because He made us, loves us, and knows how we work best. I'm so happy for you two, and I wish you more and more of His blessings.

Kayla and Harold,

Happy Anniversary! So happy to hear that your still loving each other well! Very happy to be your friends and so can remember the ups and downs in the beginning! But, Larry and I definetly had ours! I agree that marriage is sweeter every day. This week will be #10 for us....I can't believe it! May God bless you with many more years together! So very proud of you sticking it out in this society that is so against the family as we know it!

Tell Harold Hello for us!

Sorry I'm late with my congrats, but CONGRATULATIONS! - and a very sweet post.

I remember when I was at Hobe Sound, you and Harold several times invited me to go along on your dates. Why did you do that?! You must have felt sorry for me. But it was so sweet and Harold even paid for my meals! I remember admiring you as a couple and sort of making a mental note that when I dated, I wanted to have a relationship like yours.

You're an awesome couple!

So proud to officially be able to comment. You all have no idea the effort it takes to figure this all out. Anyways, megacongrats on this huge milestone (sorry I'm late). I got a little thrown by the comments at first thinking Flowbee...Happy Anniversary...hair trimmers...what's the connection here???(I am still so cracked up writing this)but thankfully was able to at last make the connection to the last post.

Chenda, what's up with Kayla getting a comment from you? That's the first comment I've seen you make on blogspot. Kayla how special are you?!

Chenda, if you have a new blog, you need to make it public or send me your new address, as your Yahoo blog is pathetically behind!:)

Wow!!

I wept when I read your blog, I really did, which is really painful because tears have salt in them and my cheeks are still healing from the skin grafts.

You guys, 'sob', what a precious family . . . I can remember my wedding like it was in the early 90's. The beautiful pig roast, the fried apple pies, the shotgun.

And you are right. The bond grows stronger with each passing year! I think it may have to do with the fact that we as people grow larger. I mean, my wife weighed a svelte 215 when we married, now she is a healthy, happy 372, and strong as an ox! I haven't gained a pound, but my happiness comes from knowing she is happy, and that I can hide behind her when the cops come.

Aaahh, marriage! We had our 15 year anniversary in March. Our romance is still great. It's really an unconscious act now, we have gotten so used to each other. Why, I even showed up with a rose in my mouth the other day, and didn't even know it! (I had fell off the tractor and been pulled through the neighbors flower garden)

Keep up the good work! I know that husbands love their wives to really take care of them, to really help out around the house, and to really be the person who will go the extra mile. For example, my arms are too short to reach my toes, so my wife clips them for me!

Teedle doo! Gotta go feed her.
