Monday Morning Syndrome

Does anyone out there hate Monday mornings as much as I do? I will never understand how the house falls apart every Sunday. The laundry is piled to the ceiling, the dishwasher is full, and there are Christmas ornaments all over the living room. I thought the boys rooms were at least halfway clean, but upon further inspection I find that my "little deceivers" took the shortcut cleaning route. Boy will they be surprised to come home from school and find that Mom is ready to stand at the door and watch the job done right. Over the weekend my two little ones are entertained by their older brothers so come Monday morning Mommy becomes the sole source of entertainment. That of course means that everywhere I step my foot seems to land on some little body part that should not be there. Just thought I'd ask, in case someone else is having the same trials that I am this morning. Rest assured Tuesday is on the way.

If you are tired of my picture posting please bear with me. There are a few who are interested in the goings on of HS. I was thinking the other day that if the house burned down or a hurricane hit and we lost everything all I would have to do is find a computer and there is the record of our existence. So here goes, last weeks events appear for all "wondering eyes".
Tuesday was my Mom's birthday so the I made cupcakes and the boys decorated them. This is what you get when you let little boys loose with decorating supplies. I would have included a picture of her, but she preferred that I not. Happy 69th to her anyway.
That evening was Rochenda's baby shower. It was very special to have a small part in hosting the event. She is one of those mutual friends who saw us through our dating years. Harold tries to claim her as more his friend than mine since he has know her longer. She actually picked out my Christmas present from him one year while we were dating. I think things were a little shaky in our high school relationship at that time and he wanted the perfect present, so he went shopping with Jose and Rochenda. I still have that present.
Anyway the shower was beautiful. Charlene did all the decorating and did a fantastic job. Here she is with her Mom and Angela.
The ladies who helped. Charlene did most of the work and the rest of us helped with the food.
Chenda and me. The next two are a before and after duo, they are mostly for my own amusement so please bear with me.
In a day and age when everyone is upgrading and upsizing there is at least one thing that we have both downsized. I think that this is a positive thing.

Thursday was of course Dylan's first birthday. Here are all four brothers ready for the party.
"Man is this cake good!"
Saturday was the annual HS Christmas Parade. The boys were asked to wear their "military" uniforms on the float. These are actually the lapels from Harold's old flight shirt, his bars, blue ties, and hats from the local souvenir shop, but they seem to move everyone. Here they are ready to go.

Here is the float. Seanna did a really good job with it this year.
Here they come!
For those of you who don't get the joy of seeing the parade every year, here is Anthony H's Port-o-Let on the go. I get highly amused when this "thing" passes" by.

On a more serious note, today marks three years since I stood with my parents by Dawn's bed and watched as the doctors backed off and let her go to be with Jesus. Looking back over the past three years I am so aware of the sustaining hand of God on our lives. It never ceases to amaze that God's grace is sufficient for the things that we could never handle on our own. In his sermon yesterday Pastor Wolfe talked about the Promise of Reunion in one of his points. I'm so glad this morning that one day that WILL become a reality.

Kayla trust me!! You are not alone!! My house is trashed by Monday too. I'm not sure why unless its because we keep the kids in and all four of us are in the same room. Maybe it's because we have a small place. I just know that Mondays are crazy with cleaning up from the weekend. I hope I survive...lol. :):)

Thanks so much for another great post. Enjoyed the pics immensely. How cool that your boys got to decorate the cupcakes. I'm sure they were very pleased! Kinda miss the old parade. Was glad to see it again. And the shower for Rochenda was beautiful. I'm sure it was a great time.

My love and prayers are with you all today. Love you.

I enjoyed catching up on your news. I just asked Doyle why our house seems to fall apart on Sunday. I guess this would be a good time for confession--I attack the place after church on Sunday. We go through and put the pieces back together. I think sometime I act like the mama bear in "The Berenstain Bears--remember the messy room story. I think I also see you playing that role as you stand there waiting for those boys to come home. Hope you have a terrific Tuesday.

Big dittos on the house chaos...though I usually refer to mine as SUNDAY syndrome! Seems like this place goes to pieces on Sundays, and by Sunday night I'm too pooped to touch a thing.
I would give about anything I own to be where Christmas parades are done in lush green-ness with short sleeves and BEACH BALLS!! Merry Christmas, you lucky Floridians:)
Loved the pic of you and Chenda way back when....I remember that navy dress of yours so well! Didn't Juwah do your mass of curls for that evening? :)

YES I DID! I WAS THE PROFESSIONAL MASS OF CURLS CHICK! Hee Hee

Kayla, please don't stop photo blogging. I so love it.

Your family will especially in our prayers this week. I'm sure the loss of a loved one always hurts more around the holidays.

Kayla, I'm with you and the rest of the gals, our house FALLS apart on Sundays! Last Sunday night I just asked my family...HOW IN THE WORLD our house could fall apart soooo easily every Sunday?! We all worked together and got it all cleaned up before we went to bed...! I have a 9 1/2 yr. old and a 7 year old girl to help me, for which I thank Jesus for! I would have died without their help in the last 2 VERY SICK, VERY TIRED MONTHS of pregnancy! =)
Loved the pics of Rochenda and her shower! Am happy for she and Brent! And I enjoyed the years ago pic of y'all too.
OK, I enjoyed seeing all of the pics and you had me howling laughing at the port-a-john pic....
THEN...you had my eyes full of tears remembering dear Dawn and all she suffered. She is probably helping them decorate HEAVEN for Christmas this year. SOOOOO SORRY for you and your parents (and we as Dawn's friends) GREAT loss, but Glad that you have felt God's grace during the rough times!!
Baby and I are feeling much better and I can bake and cook again...YEA!

Hoping you are having a wonderful Christmas season!
Love, Heather and baby! =)

Not a big fan of Monday's either - I often ask Rick how in the world the house can fall apart so fast in just one day - must be some kind of syndrome. "-)

Love the picture of Dillon eating his cake!

Funny pic with the "big hair" on you and Rochenda - how did our hair used to defy the laws of gravity back then!?!?!

See you around the singin' tree...

THAT HAIR IS GREAT!!!

Well, I for one, think that you looked beautiful with "big" hair. I mean, no matter what, you're a gorgeous girl, but I have always loved it when you add "fluff" to your hair. LOL! Oh the memories...I'm just glad that no one has big hair pictures of me! HAHA!!!! Love your blogs!

I too so enjoy your pics n post - don't ever stop. Keep em coming, I say! And I know my opinion is one of the top you seek, wink, wink.

It looks like you had a real lovely shower for Rochenda - she looks so sweet - very happy for them as well.

I agree with Tara about the parade weather - ours is coming up Saturday and right now it is barely 40. Alyssa and Aric are both in the Parade, so I am hoping for warmer weather by then. If not, we'll need long johns!

Also, enjoyed the before/after photos - I bet they brought back wonderful memories.

Take care, Esther

I so agree about Monday mornings! Love the hair pictures. It sure is easier these days to do hair. No more teasing and curing for me!
So sorry you are enduring a hard time this week. May the Lord wrap His arms of love around you.

Hey Kayla,

You don't know me. I stumbled upon your blog while looking for a way to get sand out of my dryer. When I got to your blog I realized that it was not what I was looking for but I decided to read on. I have five children, two boys and three girls.

Your life sounds like my life. I would love to add you to my blog list of people I follow if you don't mind too much.

I still don't know how to get sand out of the dryer so if you have any suggestions I'm open to anything at this point.
