Alumni Reception

I wanted to remind everyone who is able to attend about the Hobe Sound Bible College/Academy Reception on Friday night following the evening service. It is always a really fun time of reconnecting with old friends. We will have lots of good food, old yearbooks, and slides. There is no formal program so that everyone can have an opportunity to fellowship. It doesn't matter if you didn't graduate, just so long as you attended. We hope that everyone will make an effort to attend.
Also just a reminder that they will be announcing the Alumni of the Year in the Sunday afternoon service. I am personally very excited about it this year. I'm not allowed to say who it is, but I will say that it is one of my heroes. I can't give any more information or trouble may come my way, but come to the service and you won't be disappointed.

Did they FINALLY realize I should be Alumni of the Year? Wow, I don't have a thing to wear. I must go shopping and I'll be sure to purchase my plane ticket today so I can be there in time to accept my honor. Wow, I'm so excited!!

Julia,
Please make sure that you dress appropriately. I know that this is a really big deal for you, but don't embarass yourself by being gaudy. Evening gowns are not acceptable. Also, the Alumni officers have requested that you have a special song ready for the occasion. I know that you have always planned on singing "One Moment In Time" when this day finally came. I guess you can go ahead and do that, just please sing softly.

Kayla;
I got a dress last night and while it is covered in diamonds, it is hardly gaudy. It does have a rather plunging neckline and only comes to the middle of my thigh, but I plan to wear a tiedyed turtle neck under and I've added rick rack and lace to the bottom so that it is now well below my knees.

I will plan on singing "One Moment in Time" in my very best Whitney voice. I have the sound track, but if you would rather play the guitar for me that's OK too. Just let me know. I'm soooooo excited.

You can never go wrong by adding a little rick rack to any outfit. You should be a designer.

Oh My Word! No one has asked to play the gutiar since my last rendition of "The Howling Cowboy". I would be honored to play for you. I think my playing will enable you to sound more like Whitney.
Can't wait to see you!

ahhh, how I remember with fondness the "Howling Cowboy". I have tried many a time to duplicate that wonderful sound. And while I can duplicate Whitney, I cannot achieve the melodious screams you attained.

Looking forward to seeing you too.

Just wanted to let those interested know that Kathy Wright was the Alumni of the Year. I can't think of anyone more deserving. I am sure that she made an impact on the lives of many of those who will read this. Make sure you let her know how much she is appreciated.
Julia,
I know the disappointment that you are feeling at this moment. Just hang in there and keep on practicing, your day will come.

Awww..that is so great. She was my favorite teacher in high school. The sweetest person and most deserving!!

Well, since it was Mrs. Wright I guess I can deal with the dissappointment. She really is one of my heros too. I was always amazed at how she had complete control in the classroom without ever once raising her voice or nagging. I think what she had was our respect, as obnoxious as I was, I would have never dreamed of disrespecting her. Good choice. I'll just save my dress for next year.

Mrs. Wright was one of my favs, too! Unflappable. Sweet. Smart. She put up with a lot from our class. (Think James Brown, Bobby Trueblood, etc. lol) I remember that she loved to talk about and answer our questions about Heaven. Unfortunately, we also knew that if we kept the questions coming, the class would be soon over without any studying of English actually being done. Stinkers, weren't we? Mrs. Wright, you deserve to be the alumni of the year!!!

Go Mrs. Wright!!! She is so deserving. As others have mentioned, I remember a few classes discussing other things besides English Lit! I do disagree with her on ONE MAJOR issue.....I WAS NOT A FLIRT!!! I was a shy southern girl from GA with a big smile...that was all! It was the "idots" that I sat between and in front of that had an issue..I want mention any names of Cancio, Morris, or Duren!
